before you were made to believe the world,
as a cruel, selfish,
and a dark place.

before everyone close to you,
failed you and took you
for granted.

before everything bad happened,
I could've shown you,
the stars in the darkness of the night sky,
the moonlit river hitting the riverbanks,
the sunlight shining through the trees,
the rain splashing across our bedroom windowsill,
the flowers that seem to sigh in awe as you walk past them,
your hair blowing as we drive on the empty highway,
the stardust you're made of.
I wish we could've found each other,
long before the world,
that we live in,
came to be.
Long before the moon,
started revolving around you.
I wish we could've found each other,
and made a promise,
to keep for eternity,
"We will be together,
again,
one day."
