Petals and Thorns🌹🌵


She isn't a delicate flower,
that people keep in a vase,
she is like the thorns on a cactus,
who stands her ground even through the thick and thin.
Oh, but when she lets her guard down,
she is the most exquisite piece of artwork,
worth every cent, every penny,
worth all the effort,
and when she smiles,
all the joy is mine.
It's like a whole new person,
behind the veil of toughness,
even though she doesn't give in to emotions easily,
vulnerability looks good on her.
Her eyes so full of life,
and steal all my words away,
she sets alight something in me,
and even though I am unaware of what is happening,
this sudden rush through my body feels beautiful.
I often find myself thinking about her,
hoping for her well being,
realising that she really is like a cactus,
beautiful to look at,
difficult to touch,
and impossible to hold.
